Day One Society Named Finalist for Business Excellence Awards

The Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce and MNP announced the finalists for the 38th annual Business Excellence Awards. Day One Society is honoured to be a finalist for the prestigious Not for Profit of the Year award, a recognition that highlights our commitment towards achieving wellness and healing through effective and innovative programs.

The 2024 awards garnered over 730 nominations from the public and recognized over 130 unique businesses and organizations. Day One Society is a long-standing member of the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, and we appreciate their ongoing support of the not-for-profit sector.

Sian Lewis, executive director of Day One Society, shared, "We are excited to have made the list of finalists for this prestigious award and feel honoured to be celebrating alongside other finalists in this category."

Day One Society’s Board President Marilyn McLean was also grateful and privileged to receive this recognition, crediting the Society’s team, Board, staff and Executive Director for this achievement.

"As the Board President, I am so proud of the hard work being done by the Day One Society to ensure clients are offered help, hope, and healing on their wellness journey," said McLean.

Lewis further explained that the Society has earned remarkable achievements over the past several years, including the organization's renaming and rebranding, the addition of a youth inpatient detox program, and an organization-wide IT transformation project.

"We are also proud of the Out of the Ashes Bursary program achieving a significant milestone, awarding over $100,000 in educational bursaries supporting those in recovery in their educational pursuits,” added Lewis. “These achievements stand as a testament to our dedication and innovation.”

Day One Society will continue to strive to respect each individual's integrity and believe in their ability to take personal responsibility for their overall well-being. We are proud to be recognized for our work in the community and grateful to have been a part of people's healing journeys.
