Recently, Day One Society received a meaningful gift at Phoenix Centre.
Lynn Trostheim visited the Centre to present a framed poem written by her late sister, Kat O’Grady, who attended detox services at Day One Society (previously known as Phoenix Centre) in 2001. Kat passed away in 2025 after achieving 25 years of sobriety, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, strength, and hope.
The poem, now displayed at Day One Society, serves as a reminder of the journeys that begin within its walls and the lives that continue long after treatment ends. It speaks to the possibility of recovery and the impact that compassion, support, and determination can have over time.
For staff, the poem is also a reflection of the important work that takes place every day. It is a reminder that even small moments of encouragement and care can have a lasting influence on someone's life.
Day One Society is grateful to Lynn for sharing Kat’s words and story with us. We are honoured to display this piece and to celebrate Kat’s remarkable journey. Her poem will continue to inspire clients, families, and staff for years to come.
